Some of the quickest cars in the world are made in America, though not all are constructed by American companies. Classically American cars from Dodge and Ford still make this list, but so does some surprising German SUV competition.
What makes a car American? Being constructed in North America is a big part of the equation. However, some American cars are made outside of the country for American-based companies that primarily do their manufacturing in the States.
In the case of the Dodge Challenger and Charger, the models are made about an hour’s drive from Niagara Falls in Brampton, Ontario, Canada, despite being known as traditional American muscle cars. We’ll count them on this list.
As you read through the cars on this slideshow, you’ll also see that we don’t duplicate models. If the Tesla Model S P100D is the fastest variant, we show that and not the other grades in the Model S lineup.
